In the same way you head to the coast to enjoy the best fish, if you are looking for the perfect spot to eat goat in Fuerteventura you must head inland. Specifically, to Casa Luis, Bar Tiscamanita, one of the most local places you will find in Fuerteventura.
Casa Luis Bar Tiscamanita, the local’s favourite spot to eat goat in Fuerteventura
Located in the middle of the island and surrounded by volcanoes, Casa Luis, as the locals know it, or Bar Tiscamanita (what the sign says) is the closest you will get to eating at a local’s house.
The restaurant Casa Luis or Bar Tiscamanita in Fuerteventura
The decoration is a mix between a living room and a goat enthusiasts room. The place is family run and a great representation of the canaries slow life.
An apartment in the “local” area of the village is equipped with kitchenette for a “homey” stay but with swimming pool. Have a look here >
The food at Casa Luis, Fuerteventura (Bar Tiscamanita)
The menu is short and all they offer is homemade food cooked the traditional way. They have one special: the goat’s meat.
With a couple of drinks on the table they brought some bread and homemade sauce to keep us busy while they cooked our meal. Try and restrain yourself from the bread as the goat platter for one person was so large we could barely finish it.
We order salad for two and one plate of goat to share. The salad, while not fancy, was delicious and really refreshing after a day at the beach. The goat platter came with some the thinest and most crispy fries we have ever tried. We could barely finish it!
The goat meat was surprisingly tender and delicious, a bit like lamb.
The service is a bit slow but bear in mind they are preparing your meal from scratch and that takes time. Order a drink and be patient, it will be worth the wait.
We ordered a couple of coffees to finish and they were kind enough to invite us to try the local coffee specialty, a barraquito, with condensed milk and liquor. The whole meal for two was just €26.
The most homey experience in Fuerteventura, friendly for every budget.
