The charming village of El Cotillo
This delightful fishing village looks like something out of a postcard. Upon arrival you notice you only encounter white houses with blue accents.
If you stroll around you will come across many restaurants overlooking the ocean, and, depending on the hour, you might also see the catch of the day being prepared right by the old port.

Playa de la Concha beach and the other beaches you will find in el Cotillo,
If you head to the south of the village, wild beaches await. Typically, long beaches with golden sands. They are famous for their waves, and, consequently, if you visit it is likely that you will find many surfers.
To the north of El Cotillo, on the way to the lighthouse, you will find a succession of three different beaches with white sand and very calm turquoise waters. La Playa de la Concha beach is one of them.

While the beach is walking distance from the village it is still far enough to make you feel part of nature.
It is what people from the island call a “lagoon beach” because the waters are not very deep as the beach forms a bay. This makes it very family friendly and a good option if it is windy.
The sand is white and the water is as clear as it gets, making it one of the loveliest beaches in Fuerteventura. The location of the area also makes it ideal to enjoy the sunset.
There are toilets and showers available, and a bar – however it was closed when we visited in early January 2022.
Where to stay near Playa de la Concha, in El Cotillo?
If you are looking for a hotel on a budget El Hotelito del Cotillo is a riad-inspired boutique hotel that offers great value for money in the village, and people love it. They have a lovely terrace with a hot tub for guest to enjoy. A double room usually goes for 75€ per night.
If you are looking for somewhere a bit more homey this 2 bedroom apartment has everything you will need for your stay including an outdoor barbecue and a terrace with some mind blowing ocean views.
