After our many visits to the island and the recommendations we have received from the islanders we have put together a list of cheap things to do in Ibiza to fully experience the island’s vibe for almost free.

Cheap things to do in Ibiza to experience the island’s vibe almost for free

The thing that surprised me most when I first visited Ibiza was how quickly money was disappearing from my pockets.

Especially at the beach bars. A beer? 10€. A small bottle of water? 6€. A sun bed? 100€. Luckily for us, the best things in life are free (or almost).

Cheap things to do in Ibiza: Tapas lunch at Es Pueto Chitinguito right by the beach

Most of the trendy beach bars in Ibiza are overpriced, and that doesn’t guarantee that their food offering is particularly good. You end up paying for the views and the decoration.

Es Pueto Chiringuito, in San Antonio, is literally located on the beach and it offers unpretentious Spanish tapas with a relaxed vibe at affordable prices.

Dinner at Bar Costa for the best charcuterie of the Island

The picturesque village of Santa Gertrudis with its white-washed houses and its local vibe is one of the most beautiful places in Ibiza.

In their main square you will find Bar Costa, a local favourite for a casual dinner in the plaza.

Their offer is simple yet delicious: breads, cheeses and a wide variety of Spanish cold cuts (like serrano ham, salchichón and chorizo). Everything is locally sourced and made by them.

Other tips if you are on a budget and want cheap things to do in Ibiza

  • The small holiday supermarkets are way more expensive than the bigger ones. It is worth heading to one of the big ones like Mercadona or buy in the local stores.
  • Drinks are particularly expensive by the beach and you will need tons of water to make it through the day. In any supermarket you can find bags to keep food and drinks chilled. Get one, fill it with ice and drinks and take it with you to the beach and you will have cold drinks all day long.
  • A picnic on the beach is the best choice for lunch if you are on a budget. We never go to a beach without some bread, olives, spreads, crips, charcuterie and some fruit for dessert. Yummy!
  • Always bring an umbrella and sun block as the heat in summer is brutal.
  • During the summer, the most famous beaches get full from as early as 9:30 am.
